“자다가 깰 때”(When you wake up)

“또한 너희가 이 시기를 알거니와 자다가 깰 때가 벌써 되었으니 이는 이제 우리의 구원이 처음 믿을 때보다 가까웠음이라”(롬13:11)

“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”(Romans 13:11).

[3] 묵상

‘생존’(生存)이냐 ‘실존’(實存)아냐, 생존은 그저 주어진 삶을 살아내는 것에 급급한 인생을 말한다. 반면 실존은 살아가는 이유를 찾으려고 힘쓰고, 그 이유에 충실하게 살려고 애쓰는 인생을 말한다.

There's a difference between "survival" and "existence." Survival is when you're just trying to get through life. Existence, on the other hand, is a life that strives to find a reason to live, and to live faithfully to that reason.

그리스도인은 생존을 넘어 실존의 삶을 살아야 한다. 그것은 바로 시대를 알고, 시대에 대처하는 삶을 사는 것이다. 이것이 바로 사명이다. 사명을 알고 사명을 위해 사는 자이다.

The Christian is to live a life of existence, not just survival. It's about knowing the times and living in them. This is mission. He who knows the mission and lives for the mission.

지금은 자다가 깰 때이다. 시대의 마지막을 알리는 징조들이 수없이 일어나고 있다.

Now is the time to wake up. There are many signs of the end of the age.

그리스도인들은 깨어 있는 자이다. 육의 무절제한 잠에서 깨어 있는 자이다. 음란과 호색에서 깨어 있는 자이다. 육신의 일, 어두움의 일에서 깨어있는 자이다.

Christians are the ones who are awake. Awake from the unrestrained sleep of the flesh. We are awake to lewdness and lust. They are awake to the works of the flesh, the works of darkness.

그리스도인들은 시대를 아는 자이다. 구원이 가까이 온 시대이다. 그리스도의 재림이 임박한 때이다. 시대의 밤을 알고 여명을 기다리는 자이다.

Christians know the times. This is the time when salvation is at hand, when Christ's return is imminent.  They know the night of the ages and wait for the dawn.

그리스도인은 빛의 갑옷을 입은 자이다.  그리스도로 옷을 입어야 한다. 그리스도 안에 살고 그리스도와 함께 살아야 한다. 밤을 지나 낮에 사는 것 같이 단정해야 한다. 시대를 알리는 파수꾼, 사명자로 살아야 한다.

Christians are those who put on the armor of light.  Be clothed with Christ. Live in Christ and live with Christ. You must be groomed as if you were living in the day after the night. Live as a watchman and a missionary to announce the times.

그리스도의 실존은 바로 파수꾼의 삶이다. 시대를 역행하거나 편승하는 자가 아니라 시대를 일깨우는 사명자이다.

The very existence of Christ is the life of a watchman. He is not a person who goes against the times or goes with the times, but a missionary who awakens the times.

“새벽의 주님, 이제 자다가 깰 때입니다.

육신의 깊은 잠에서 깨어나게 하소서,

잠든 자들을 깨우는 기상 나팔수가 되게 하소서.

더 가꺼이 주님을 기다리는 빛의 사모자가 되게 하소서,

더 시대를 아파하며 일깨우는 선각자의 삶을 살게 하소서.

더 안타까운 심정으로 복음의 파수꾼으로 살게 하소서, 아멘.”

"Lord of the dawn, it is time to wake up.

Awaken me from the deep sleep of the flesh,

let me be a wake-up trumpet to awaken those who sleep.

Let me be a bringer of light who waits for thee nearer, more like a visionary who hurts and awakens the times.

Let me live as a watchman of the gospel with a more compassionate heart, Amen."(23.1.5)
